'Wag Kang Bitter!

       Valentine's? Feb-ibig? Ano yun? Kinakain ba yun?"  In-assume ko na marami nanaman ang naging ampalaya kahapon dahil daw "Araw ng Pag-Ibig". Marami ang naging ampalaya at marami rin ang bumabati ng "Happy Single Awareness Day!". Eh bakit? May tao bang single?

         Nung Feb. 13 naghanda ako ng "gifts" para sa mga kaibigan ko, sa mga taong mahalaga at importante sa akin, at sa mga taong kailan man ay hindi bumitaw. Nag-staple ako ng strip ng paper na may nakalagay na "Happy Hearts Day". Oo, hindi "Happy Valentine's Day" ang nilagay ko dahil alam kong maraming magsasabi ng "Ano yung Valentine's?" o "O, sweldo day ngayon diba? (Feb 15)". At, oo hindi rin ako naglagay ng "Happy Single Awareness Day" dahil alam ko na walang taong "single" sa mundo. Sino ba nagsabi na ang 'Valentine's Day' ay para lang sa romantikong pag-ibig? Sino ba nagsabi na para lang sa love birds ang araw na yun? Wala naman diba? Nag-assume ka lang talaga at nagpaka-bitter! Para sakin, ang Feb. 14 ay araw ng mga taong nagmamahalan sa isang relasyon -- relasyon ng magkapamilya, magkaibigan, magkaklase, magkapit-bahay, at kung anu-ano pang 'mag'. Hindi lang inilalaan ang araw ng 'to para sa 'yong 'special someone', 'bf/gf', 'ka-MU', o 'ka-fling', ((nasanay ka lang talga na nakikita yun)) inilalaan din 'to para sa mga taong minahal mo at nagmamahal sa'yo katulad ng bestfriend, family, friends, relatives, team-mate, classmate, etc. 'Wag na 'wag mong isasarado ang kahulugan ng 'Valentine's Day' bilang araw ng mga nakararanas ng romantikong pag-ibig at lalung-lalong araw ng mga 'single'. Pa'no mo ba masasabing single ka? Dahil sa wala kang lovelife? Gising-gising din! Anong tawag mo sa pamilya mo, dekorasyon ng bahay? Anong tawag mo sa kaibigan mo, manika? BUKSAN MO MGA MATA MO! Masasabi mo bang 'single' ka kung may mga taong nagpapasaya at kumukumpleto ng araw mo? NEVER kang single. May mga tao sa paligid mo na kahit 'di mo aminin, tumutulong sa'yo, nag-aalala sa'yo, nag-aaruga, and what so ever. Sabihin mo sa aking 'single' ka kung ikaw na lang ang natitirang tao sa mundo. ((Search mo sa google 'single' :  not accompanied by another or others)).

            Hindi naman kailangan maging bitter ka pagsasapit ng Feb. 14 eh. Yung nga yung araw na dapat malaman at makita mo yung mga taong tunay na nagmamahal sa'yo. Kasi ako mismo 'pag nagbibilang na ako ng mga taong reregaluhan, dun pa ako nagre-reflect kung naging isang 'kaibigan' ba talaga sa akin yung mga taong nakakasama ko o naging 'kakilala' lang. 'Wag ka na magpaka-bitter ha! Ngiti na! :)

Hope is Pag-asa

          “There is hope as long as we live.” Some people think that losing something in life is the end of everything. But, to lose something and to experience pain is natural. Some may think that this is a punishment, but in reality it can mold our being as an individual and even make us stronger than before. In the novel “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green, Hazel accepted the death of Augustus. This shows hope despite the loss of her love. She proved to us that the loss of one is not the loss of everything.

          Typhoon Yolanda became a part of every Filipino’s life particularly those who live in Visayas. Many schools were destroyed and everyone, including the teachers, thought that it will be the reason why the children in Visayas region will stop their education. But the students believed that there is still hope after the tragedy. This line from the article “Childhood a Victim in ‘Yolanda’ disaster” written by Salcedo a student who was interviewed told him “We are ready to hold classes outside, even under trees.” (13) implies that there are no hopeless things. Even if they lost their schools, it doesn’t mean that their education and their future should end.

          According to Arun Gogna, a journalist, a student came to him sobbing and told him about her break-up with her boyfriend then she screamed and said “I wish the world would end now!” (9). Some people have closed minds. They often secure themselves only to people they know, in this case to her boyfriend. They don’t open themselves to other people, people around them that might be better than her boyfriend. Furthermore, we are in a big world. We shouldn’t close ourselves to little things; rather we should explore the world, make memories and always remember that when a door closes, another door opens.

          Each and every one of us attains hope. It is up to us whether or not we will use it. Every time a negative thing happens we should not dwell on it rather believe that it happened for a reason and that best things are yet to come. God made our fate so we should believe that all the negative and positive things around us are parts of our cycle as a person. If not, our emotional, physical, and spiritual selves will be ruined and our fate and faith will be affected.

Tao Lang Ako

          Tao lang ako. Hindi ako perpekto. Para akong switch na on and off o see-saw na up and down. Hindi tumatakbo sa isang side ang pagkatao ko. Hindi lahat positive. Katulad ng gulong, paikut-ikot lang ako ─ minsan masaya, minsan malungkot, o minsan naman tama lang. 

          Mahirap manigurado dahil walang kasiguraduhan ang mga bagay sa mundo, oo wala. Pero hindi ibig sabihin nun bibitawan mo yung mga bagay na sa tingin mo ay walang patutunguhan kahit malayo na ang narating. Mahirap mag-isip kung ano ang mga susunod na mangyayari. Mahirap umasa sa mga bagay na imposible, sa mga bagay na "once in a blue moon" kung mangyari.

          Mahirap maikumpara sa iba. Yung pakiramdam na parang lahat ng mga ginawa o gagawin mo pa lang ay walang saysay. Yung para bang nahihirapan ka nang gumalaw dahil sa tingin mo buong mundo nakatingin sa mga kahinaan mo. Mahirap yung naiipit ka sa dalawang sitwasyon: kung magpapatuloy ka dahil 'yan ka o kung magbabago ka dahil sabi nila may hindi tama. Mahirap maikumpara sa taong alam mong wala kang laban. Nakakalokong tanggapin na lahat ng mga bagay na mali ang siyang nakikita at naaalala ng karamihan. 

          Tao lang ako ─ may pakiramdam. Nasasaktan, umiiyak, at lumalaban. Kinakaya ko lahat ng mga pagsubok na dumaraan sa buhay ko. 

          Sadyang nakakaloko ang buhay. Akala nila okay lang pero nakakasakit na. Akala nila masaya ka pero malungkot ka. Akala nila nakakatuwa pero foul na pala. Akala mo maayos na pero di pa pala. Akala mo masarap na pero sabi ng iba may kulang pa. Akala mo tapos na pero may kasunod pa pala...

          Akala mo mag-isa ka, pero nandito lang ako para makinig at umunawa sa'yo. Tao lang ako. Tao lang tayo. Kapit lang. Tiwala rin. :)

Flashback 2013

2013 was indeed a great year. Smiles, laughter, sad moments, happy moments, hardships, challenges ((which seemed to be endless)) --- I experienced all of that! I met new friends & colleagues, experienced moments that opened doors for opportunities, and had a lot of my "first time" experiences like my first blog giveaway, first blog collaboration, first recognition in school ((yup!)), first collaboration with celebrities, first band practice, first band audition, first retreat, etc. 2013 inspired me to be a better person & proved to me that I can do things as long as I believe in my self and in my dreams. The late-14th & early-15th chapter of my life was really a blast. 

I am proud to share to all of you the highlights of my 2013. Thank you to all those people who played a big role to make this year fun & memorable. Thank you, Mama, Papa, Wacky, Julia, to my clan, Salinas Family, TWM, Pretty Zombies, Archers, Choir-mates, to my band DELTA ▲ , SK friends, KBL, MMSA friends, teachers, to my readers, and to everyone! Thank you so much to all those people who inspired me, motivated me, and touched my heart. Some of you may not be on this video or I was not able to mention you,  but you will always be in my heart & mind.
